Two variants — order the correct connection type for your system. Slip (B251) and Twist (B226) pump heads are NOT interchangeable. Check your cylinder connection before ordering. Slip cylinders push straight in; twist cylinders rotate and lock. If unsure, call before ordering: 866-218-0902.

      Choose Your Variant

      Variant SKU Connection Compatible With
Slip Pump Head B251 Slip — push straight in, no rotation Pos-T-Vac slip-connection cylinders (older systems)
Twist Pump Head B226 Twist-lock — rotate to lock, superior seal Pos-T-Vac twist-lock cylinders (current systems)

Not sure which variant your system uses? Check your cylinder: if it pushes straight in, order Slip (B251). If it rotates and locks, order Twist (B226). Still unsure — call us: 866-218-0902.

When to Replace Your Pump Head

      • Battery motor fails to create vacuum or runs noticeably weaker than when new despite fresh batteries
      • Safety release valve no longer functions correctly — fails to release pressure or releases unintentionally
      • Pump head physically damaged — cracked housing, broken button, or damaged battery compartment
      • Motor runs but maximum vacuum is lower than expected — internal seal may be compromised
      • Your cylinder is still in good condition — replacing only the pump head is significantly more economical than replacing the complete Automatic 2000 system

Slip vs. Twist — Full Comparison

      Feature Slip (B251) Twist (B226)
Connection Method Push straight in — friction fit Rotate and lock — mechanical seal
Vacuum Seal Quality Standard — friction dependent Superior — locked joint resists flex under vacuum
Compatible Cylinders Slip cylinders only Twist-lock cylinders only
System Generation Older Pos-T-Vac systems Current Pos-T-Vac systems
Interchangeable? No — slip and twist cylinders are not interchangeable

      Pos-T-Vac Battery Pump Head Lineup

Pump Head Batteries Connection Best For
BOS-2000-2 Slip (This — B251) 2 AA Slip Replacing head on older slip-connection system
BOS-2000-2 Twist (This — B226) 2 AA Twist Replacing head on current twist-lock system
BOS-2000-3 (3-cell) 3 AA Twist Upgrading to maximum motor power
Upgrade option: If your system uses a twist-lock cylinder, the BOS-2000-3 3-cell pump head is a direct upgrade — same twist-lock connection, more powerful 3-cell motor, increased suction and longer battery life. Cost is higher than a like-for-like replacement but delivers measurably better performance.

      FAQs

      Do AA batteries come included?

No — 2 AA batteries are required and not included. Have batteries ready before installation so the head is ready to use immediately.

How do I know if I need the slip or twist variant?

Twist (B226): your cylinder rotates and clicks into a locked position on the pump head. Slip (B251): your cylinder pushes straight in without rotating. Check your existing setup before ordering — the two are not interchangeable. If unsure, call us with your device model number: 866-218-0902.

Can I upgrade from a slip to a twist system with this purchase?

No — the pump head and cylinder must match. A twist pump head requires a twist cylinder; a slip pump head requires a slip cylinder. To switch connection types, you would need to replace both the pump head and the cylinder. Call us to discuss: 866-218-0902.

Is this compatible with the Automatic 3000 (BOS-3)?

No — the BOS-2000-2 replacement head is the 2-cell version for the Automatic 2000 system. For the Automatic 3000 (BOS-3), see the BOS-2000-3 3-cell pump head.

Does replacing the pump head void my system warranty?

No — using the OEM Timm Medical replacement pump head (B251 or B226) is the manufacturer-recommended repair. The replacement head itself carries its own warranty. Contact Timm Medical for specific warranty questions on your system.
