When to Replace Your Cylinder
- Cylinder is cracked or shows visible damage that compromises the vacuum chamber integrity
- Cylinder has become cloudy or discolored to the point of obscuring visibility during use
- Cylinder opening is chipped or rough — a damaged rim can cause discomfort and reduce seal consistency
- Vacuum seal is inconsistent despite properly lubricated O-rings and correct pump function — the cylinder wall or rim may have developed micro-fractures that prevent consistent seal formation
Slip vs. Twist-Lock — How to Tell Which You Have
The quickest way to identify your connection type:
- Slip connection: The pump head pushes straight onto the cylinder base and seats without any rotation — push in, use, push the release to remove. The connection is a straight push-in.
- Twist-lock connection: The pump head must be rotated (twisted) after being placed on the cylinder to lock into position — you'll feel it click or seat after the rotation. The current production BOS-2 and BOS-3 use twist-lock.

FAQs
Can I upgrade from a slip cylinder to a twist-lock cylinder?
No — slip and twist-lock cylinders use different connection geometries on the pump head end and are not interchangeable. If you have a slip-system pump head, you need a slip cylinder. If you want to switch to a twist-lock system, you would need to replace the pump head as well as the cylinder — effectively replacing the system. Call us to discuss: 866-218-0902.
My system is older — how do I know if it's a "slip" or "twist" model?
Older Pos-T-Vac 2000 and 3000 systems were sold under the names "BOS-2-SLIP" and "BOS-3-SLIP" — these use slip cylinders. If your device is one of these older models, this is the correct replacement cylinder. The current production BOS-2 (SKU B252) and BOS-3 (SKU B229-LOT) use twist-lock connections. Check your device's model label or call us: 866-218-0902.
Does this come with a loading cone?
The kit includes 2 bushings. If you also need a replacement loading cone, contact us: 866-218-0902.
Should I order Large or Extra-Large?
Order the same size as your current cylinder. If you are replacing a damaged cylinder and are unsure which size you had, the Large (8.5") is the standard size that fits the majority of users. Only order the Extra-Large if you know from prior use that you need the larger diameter and longer cylinder. If still unsure, call us before ordering: 866-218-0902.
